What A Busy Week!
April 17, 2009
This week was INCREDIBLY busy. Yesterday, a lumberjack named Sheep shank Sam came to school for the whole day to teach the 4th and 3rd grades about lumbering in the 1800`s. I made a magnet with a white pine on it, used a crosscut saw, loaded a sled with logs, pulled a log around like a horse, and rolled a log around with a peavy. I wasn`t to thrilled about a non – talking lunch, but I managed.
Then, today we went to Aquatic Center to go swimming. All we had to do was a reveiw of some things and then it was ….. FREE TIME! I did other things, but I mostly went on the waterslide with Jameson and Elliott. I`ll probably sleep well tonight! =)
Coming Soon!
March 20, 2009
Guess what`s coming! I`ll give you some hints. It`s on April 22, it`s my favorite holiday, and it involves recycling. Of course, it`s Earth Day! Our Earth Day celebration takes place on the Holmes Elementary school grounds. It`s from 8:45 to 3:45. Everyone at Holmes Elementary takes place in it. We pick up trash and don`t pollute in the building and outside. Our newest is recycling clean lunch trays in the lunch room! All us Smitezens hope you enjoy Earth Day! Thanks!
Fun Kid Appropriate Websites Are On Their Way!
March 12, 2009
We have been exploring websites for kids. There are many websites out on the internet that kids learn, explore, connect with other kids, and play!
My choice is a website that helps kids understand how important it is to save the environment with games, activities, and facts.
I like it because it shows how important the environment is to us.

Attention! Good Book Ahead!

We have been working on book talks for our Holmes Book Fair. I read and wrote a book talk for Bakugan, the Battle Brawlers by Tracey West. It is fiction and is about a boy who helped create a game called Bakugan and found a ball that changes into a dragonoid named Drago. Click on the video below to check it out!
Warning! Black Humor Ahead! (It`s funny.)
February 23, 2009
I have a book baggie book that I can read independently. I want to share some information with you about my book. The title of my book is The End. It is written by Lemony Snicket. It is illustrated by Brett Helquist. This story is about when the Baudilaire orphans washed up on the shores of a strange island with their dreaded enemy, Count Olaf. The white – robed inhabitants are led by a clay – footed faciliator named Ishmael. This is the final story about the Baudilaires. It takes place on a strange island. One of my favorite characters is Klaus because he can always remember what he reads, which is very cool. I would recommend this book because it is a funny black humor book and Lemony Snicket is a good author.
I Have a Dream … to Tell You What We Did!
January 27, 2009

On Monday we celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. day by watching a video about him. Here are a few facts about him. Martin Luther King Jr. was born on Janurary 15, 1929, gave his famous ‘ I Have A Dream’ speach on August 28,1963 , and was assasinated on April 14, 1968. He was 39 years old when he was assasinated. Did you know that if he wasn`t killed, he would still be alive today? We also watched some of the ‘I Have A Dream’ speech too. Speaking of speeches, you can click below to hear my speech! Thanks for reading! ![]()

Books,Books,Books!
January 13, 2009
This week we have been reading picture books by Chris VanAllsburg such as The Widow`s Broom and The Mysteries of Harris Burdick. I would highly recommend both. I would also recommend A Series of Unfortunate Events The Bad Beggining to The End. I would also recommend The Polar Express. I also recommend books by authors J.K.Rowling, Lemony Snicket, Chris VanAllsburg, and J.R.R.Tolkien. In The Tales of Beedle the Bard, I would recommend The Tale of the Three Brothers the most. I would recommend The Warlock`s Hairy Heart the least. That`s all I can think of.Thanks for reading my post!
